Value-Added Tip for Planners: Team Building at Sea

A New Rope Trick

Savvy planners like you know that building stronger, more meaningful business relationships is a critical measurement of your meeting’s ROO (Return on Objectives). But you also have your eye on a shrinking budget.

Carnival Cruise Lines gets it. Their newest ship – Carnival Magic – is bringing exciting new team and relationship-building opportunities to sea – at no additional cost to you.

After wrapping up your onboard meetings, seminars, or strategic planning sessions, take your attendees outdoors and challenge them to new heights of inspiration, teamwork, and fun!

SkyCourse, the first-of-its-kind ropes course at sea, is located high on the new Carnival Magic’s Deck 12, 150 feet above the water. Your thrill-seeker attendees can strap into a safety harness and choose from a beginner or intermediate course, traversing across rope bridges, swinging steps and beams suspended above the top deck.

Approximately 20 people at a time can zig and zag along the two 230-ft courses, while friends and colleagues can cheer from the deck. Each of the 20 different elements on the ropes course is named after a notable US bridge.

SkyCourse is part of Carnival Magic SportSquare, the recreation complex that offers an outdoor weights area, a two-level, nine-hole miniature golf course and a sports bar.

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

Exercise is a great way to promote well-being and stimulate brain power and creativity, and there are plenty of fun ways to do just that on Carnival Magic.

Sky Fitness offers a wide array of exercise equipment, stationary bicycles, elliptical and rowing machines, punching bags and more, while an 800ft jogging path rings the entire area.

A lighted multi-purpose space is available for basketball, volleyball and soccer, along with a six-station Vita exercise course and ping pong and foosball tables at Sports Court.

Golf at Sea

You may not think mini golf when you think of intense games, but Carnival takes mini golf very seriously. To appeal to the gung-ho putter in everyone, Carnival Magic’s course features 9 holes of fun spread over two levels! It even has an amazing view like none you’ll find on your average golf course, plus a fresh sea breeze for your attendees to enjoy while they wait for their turn to putt.

Oh, just in case you missed it – there’s absolutely no charge to use the rope course, golf course, or any of the facilities in SportSquare. That’s right – you can include a team-building event in your agenda they’ll remember long after the program ends…for free!

After a day of meetings and challenging recreational activities, your group will continue to build camaraderie as they relax and swap stories at the SportSquare Bar.

A Close-to-Home Port Advantage

The 3,690-passenger Carnival Magic is slated to debut in Europe this May with a series of seven- to 12-day Mediterranean cruises. On November 14, the ship will offer seven night Caribbean sailings from Galveston, becoming the port’s largest year-round cruise ship.
