Teambuilding Events that Leave GOOD Behind
With corporate meetings & incentive programs under increased scrutiny, more meeting planners are embracing Corporate Social Responsibility by focusing on the “triple bottom line” of people, planet, and profit (social, environmental and economic sustainability). One way planners can transform meetings is by integrating community-service activities into their programs.
If you’d like to include an event in your next program to motivate attendees, integrate your business objectives, and make a difference in the community, we recommend Impact 4 Good. This socially conscious corporate teambuilding company has a unique twist: all of their activities give back to the community. Collaborating with national and international partners, Impact 4 Good utilizes a worldwide network of organizations to ensure that customized corporate activities benefit both participants and communities in need.
TEAMBUILDING THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Impact 4 Good’s work promotes teamwork, leadership, camaraderie, and opening communication channels between employees or meeting attendees – and of course, having fun! But something special happens when people come together to accomplish a common goal for the benefit of others.
A teambuilding event that gives back to the community makes participants feel good about themselves and the work they accomplish. Feelings of company loyalty and pride grow, and employees learn to work together while making a difference. Here’s one example of an Impact 4 Good team-building event that just happened to take place at sea:
Impact 4 Good "Go Green" Car Race
READY…SET…GOOOO GREEN!!!
Recently, a leading computer technology company incorporated an Impact 4 Good “Go Green” team racing event into their cruise ship meeting. After the group spent a morning exploring the island of St. Thomas, they reconvened onboard for lunch before being split into “Go Green” teams.
During the two-hour activity, teams created solar cars from their Impact 4 Good “Go Green” car kits, and were also asked to build cars from materials used and discarded everyday by millions of Americans. The solar cars were put to the test and judged for performance, while the recycled cars were built for speed. The event concluded with a round robin drag race tournament to determine which car was the fastest; teams raced against the clock to complete both cars and take home the checkered flag.
Impact 4 Good "Go Green!"
Sounds like fun, right? Here’s where it gets even better.
Impact 4 Good partnered with a local island school to donate both the solar cars created during the event, as well as new solar car kits and a solar classroom curriculum for students. The cars and new car kits will be used by the school to emphasize the importance of energy conservation and alternative methods of transportation, as well as foster creativity and innovation within the classroom. A representative from the recipient school was brought on board the ship to witness the teamwork and experience the heart-pounding race…and she was also the one of the judges!
Bonding on a team to complete a meaningful project is a great take-away from any meeting at any destination – even a cruise ship! By turning teambuilding activities into community experiences, Impact 4 Good events leave good behind and will never be forgotten.
