Get onboard with healthy cruise meetings

Just read an interesting blog in the meeting planners guide about Health Magazine’s list of 10 healthiest hotel chains in the United States. The publication chose these hotels because they’re committed to the health and wellness of their guests, offer high-quality bedding and excellent fitness opportunities, as well as nutritious food and relaxing interiors.

Interesting – I’d love to see a list of the top 10 healthiest cruise ships. Cruise lines offer plenty of opportunities for planners and attendees to relax, rejuvenate, and maintain – or jumpstart – a healthy lifestyle. And we know that healthy attendees mean happy attendees (and more productive meetings!)  A few examples of wellness at sea include:

  • Silversea’s personalized in-suite aromatherapy and pillow menus
  • Carnival Cruise Line’s sumptuous “Comfort Beds” (guests love them so much they’re available for purchase!)
  • Regent Seven Seas’ Canyon Ranch SpaClub – world-renowned luxury spa and state of the art fitness and wellness facilities
  • “Celebrity Life” culinary, enrichment and wellness experience
  • Royal Caribbean’s amazing onboard sports and recreational facilities
  • Carnival & Celebrity Spa staterooms with healthy amenities like unlimited access to specialty spa restaurants, fitness classes and thermal treatment pools and saunas
  • NCL’s Acupuncture at sea for stress and pain management

Still think a cruise means gut-busting, all-you-can-eat buffets and tired old shuffleboard? Well, get over it! How about gourmet menus designed by celebrity chefs and healthy meals cooked-to-order…24-hour fitness centers with ocean views…onboard zip lines…bowling alleys and ice skating rinks at sea…rock climbing and rappelling walls…golf and surf simulators…

And the list goes on. Want more good news? A cruise program includes meals,  onboard sports, fitness and enrichment classes, complimentary meeting space and AV, and fabulous entertainment – giving your attendees way more for lots less.

Anyone want to share their own “healthy cruise” experience?
