All a-twitter about social media for meetings
Unless you’ve been living under a rock,  it’s no big news that the social media phenomenon has taken the world by storm, and meeting planners are scrambling to keep up.
According to a recent M&C poll, 73 percent of respondents have either used social networking tools or were planning to this year to market their meetings and events. (That’s a huge leap from the 2007 survey, when 94 percent said they didn’t use social media sites for events!) Planners are using platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and blogs to create pre-event buzz, engage attendees and reach a larger audience.
Today I did a google search for “social media for meetings & events†and found over 3 million results – the amount of information on this topic is staggering! So I was pleased to find out about a new website called Engage365.
Engage365 is an online knowledge community for association and corporate meeting professionals who want practical tips on technology and social media platforms. The site not only aggregates lots of great content, but also makes it easy for people to connect and exchange ideas on best practices for using social media to market events, social media ROI (Return on Investment) and ROE (Return on Engagement), how to develop social media strategies for events, legal issues etc.
