“Floating Hotels” in Trinidad and Turkey Day Wishes
It’s sure to be a busy, untraditional Thanksgiving holiday for Joyce Landry, CEO of Landry & Kling. Joyce and a hardworking staff of 30 have been onsite in Trinidad all week making sure the “Floating Hotel” global event for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) goes smoothly. L&K chartered two ships to supplement housing for this prestigious meeting, where leaders of 53 Commonwealth countries (including Britain’s Queen Elizabeth) are gathering to discuss global, political and economic issues.
Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas and Princess Cruises’ Caribbean Princess are now docked within walking distance of the Hyatt Regency, the host venue. The two ships are providing up to 2,500 rooms as well as adjunct convention facilities and dining venues. A host of meetings are planned onboard the ships, and a casino has been transformed into a trade show with 20 table-top exhibits.
Joyce and her team are putting their expertise to work in strategic locations throughout the island during the week-long event – at the airport, in the cruise terminal, and onboard the ships. And if you think handling housing for two dockside ships is a daunting job, consider this: the L&K team must also deal with government protocol, security, event logistics, and the efficient flow of thousands of people between venues.
Here at Seasite we’ve known all along what the Government of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago recently discovered – if anyone can successfully plan and execute a global event of this magnitude with grace, it’s our sister company, Landry & Kling. Yes, we’re proud!
Joyce has promised to keep us updated during the CHOGM event. In the meantime, we wish Joyce and her team in Trinidad a healthy and happy Thanksgiving.
